What is Cloudflare? #
Cloudflare is a service that makes websites faster, safer, and more reliable. It works by storing copies of your website on servers all over the world. When someone visits your site, Cloudflare delivers it from the server closest to them, so the page loads much more quickly.
Think of it like shopping: if your favorite supermarket only had one location far away, it would take you a long time to get there, and it might be crowded. But if the supermarket opens a branch near your home, you get the same products, faster, and with less hassle. That’s how Cloudflare helps your website visitors.
Cloudflare also:
- Speeds up your site by reducing loading times.
- Cuts down on server strain by handling a lot of the traffic for you.
- Protects against attacks like hackers and bots.
- Is free to use with their basic plan.
Why use Cloudflare? #
Every website owner wants their site to be fast and safe. Cloudflare helps achieve both. With Cloudflare, your website loads more smoothly for visitors, while also being better protected against online threats.
How to Set Up Cloudflare #
You can’t turn on Cloudflare directly in cPanel, but the setup is still quick and simple:
- Go to Cloudflare’s website and create a free account.
- Add your domain name.
- Cloudflare will scan your DNS settings automatically.
- Cloudflare will give you two new nameservers.
- Log in to your domain registrar (where you bought your domain) and update the nameservers to the ones Cloudflare provided.
That’s it! Once the nameserver change has updated (this may take a few hours), your website will start running through Cloudflare. From then on, visitors should notice a faster and more secure experience.
